Celebrate Family Literacy at PELC!

Prince Edward Learning Centre will be hosting an exciting week of events to support family literacy in our community. The activities are kid-friendly and everyone is welcome. Come join us!

Monday, Jan. 23 – Social Media Kickoff
We will share information about literacy and a detailed scheduled of events. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates!

Tuesday, Jan. 24 – Scavenger Hunt
Everyone is welcome! Do a self-paced scavenger hunt in any location you choose. The list of treasures will be available at PELC and all Prince Edward County library branches. You can also find the details on Facebook and Instagram.

Wednesday, Jan. 25 – Food for Thought
A bag of home cooking activities will be sent home with customers at our PEC Fresh Good Food Market, and also available at PELC and the Picton library branch. Look for menu planning and shopping tips, and a kids’ scavenger hunt!

Thursday, Jan. 26 – Family Literacy Open House at Picton Library Branch
Drop in to the library in Picton between 2– 5pm for this all-ages event:

  • Cuddle up and read, with free books from County Kids Read
  • Enjoy a family financial literacy activity
  • Follow the instructions to create an origami animal
  • Read-aloud story time with the children’s librarian

Friday, Jan. 27 – Family Literacy Day!
Share your stories! Post a photo of yourself reading with a family member, or doing a family literacy activity, with the hashtag #familyliteracyday. Don’t forget to tag @peclibrary and @princeedwardlearningcentre!
